Saudi Prince Found Dead in Hotel

The death of a 29-year-old member of Saudi Arabia’s extended royal family at a west London hotel resulted from a dangerous combination of substances, an inquest determined. Prince Abdullah bin Fahad, whose full title includes descent from bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed bin Jalawi within the al Saud dynasty, a descendant of King Salman’s great-great-grandfather, suffered cardiac arrest triggered by multiple drugs and alcohol, according to findings released by Inner West London Coroner’s Court.

Staff at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington discovered his fully clothed body on the bathroom floor of his fifth-floor accommodation on Nov. 25, 2025. He had reserved the £600-per-night room for one week starting Nov. 19, 2025. Security footage showed him smoking outside the hotel the night before, returning alone.

Treatment History at Elite Facilities

Before his death, the prince had undergone extensive rehabilitation at two private British facilities. His August 2025 admission to the Priory Clinic in Roehampton, south-west London—where stays can cost £35,000 weekly—focused on eliminating his dependencies on alcohol, benzodiazepines and pregabalin, an anti-anxiety medication.

Consultant psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Chamorro testified that detoxification had “proceeded without physical side effects.” In her statement, she characterized the prince as supportive and kind toward fellow patients and staff.

Upon admission, he displayed symptoms of low mood and anxiety, Dr. Chamorro said. By discharge, medical staff did not consider him a suicide risk. Though he missed subsequent scheduled Zoom appointments after departing with a friend, Dr. Chamorro noted he had completed his programme successfully and there had been no worries about his condition.

Following his Priory clinic discharge, Prince Abdullah continued receiving care at Rainford Hall clinic in St. Helens, Merseyside, where weekly private treatment carries a £7,000 price tag. While there, he was treated for an upper respiratory tract infection and recovered before leaving on Oct. 14.

Dangerous Substance Levels Found

Toxicology testing uncovered alarming quantities of intoxicants. Blood analysis showed 222mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood—almost triple England’s 80mg legal drink-drive threshold. The inquest heard this concentration alone could potentially induce coma.

Additionally, potentially lethal amounts of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), described as a “party drug,” were present. Cannabis traces appeared alongside recreational quantities of alprazolam, known commercially as Xanax. Other anti-anxiety medications were detected at therapeutic levels. The court learned he had been struggling with alcohol and Xanax use.

Emergency personnel and hotel security responded after a cleaner discovered him in his locked room. Resuscitation efforts failed, and he was declared dead at the location.

Death Ruled Accidental

Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin delivered a misadventure verdict, ruling no evidence suggested he meant to kill himself. Post-mortem examination identified multi-drug ingestion as the medical cause, finding he had no acute or chronic diseases and that cardiac arrest stemmed directly from the substance combination.

Harkin emphasized that documentation from both Priory and Rainford Hall showed no red flags, he had expressed no suicidal intentions to anyone, and no note was recovered from his hotel room. Surveillance recordings definitively showed him alone the evening before his death, eliminating any possibility of third-party involvement. The coroner extended condolences to his family.

Those familiar with the prince described him as a private royal family member who supported charitable efforts quietly. On December 2, the Saudi Royal Court released an official announcement confirming his passing abroad. A funeral prayer took place in Riyadh at the mosque named for Imam Turki bin Abdullah—a venue typically reserved for prominent figures—with Saudi media noting substantial attendance by princes and officials demonstrating family solidarity.
