Trump Takes Young Female Assistant on Surprise Getaway

Natalie Harp, the 34-year-old executive assistant to President Donald Trump, joined the 80-year-old commander-in-chief on a three-day West Coast journey that began Tuesday, August 4, when the pair departed Washington together.

The former One America News (OAN) anchor and host carried her signature red backpack as she accompanied Trump onto Marine One at the White House. Their first stop was a Republican National Committee (RNC) fundraiser at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, located in Southern California. A speech about tax relief policies for American workers at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas was scheduled for Wednesday.

Absence of first lady Sparks Questions

The trip took place amid a notable two-week public absence by First Lady Melania Trump, whose last confirmed appearance occurred at the FIFA World Cup final in mid-July. With no public events on her schedule since, observers have renewed questions about her approach to the first lady role and her apparent preference for staying away from Washington’s political machinery.

Those familiar with the first lady’s habits note she frequently divides her time between a penthouse suite in New York City and Mar-a-Lago in Florida, maintaining calculated separation from the capital’s daily political grind. Her nonappearance on this prominent presidential swing raised fresh questions about which figures maintain the closest proximity to Trump.

From Cancer Survivor to Presidential Confidante

Harp has publicly stated that Trump’s “Right to Try” legislation — which broadened access to experimental therapies for terminally ill patients — saved her life when she fought Stage 2 bone cancer. She describes this experience as fundamental to her dedication to the president and his policy objectives.

Her estranged brother, Preston, has characterized their childhood as one steeped in beliefs about America’s unique global position. Both siblings were homeschooled with heavy emphasis on American exceptionalism, he has stated.

“My sister and I were raised to believe in U.S. exceptionalism from childhood through high school, and that is exactly what Trump embodies,” Preston said. He added that Harp views American history through the same lens as Trump and remains dubious of competing historical narratives. “For me, it doesn’t seem strange at all that she is so obsessed with working with him and serving the objectives of U.S. exceptionalism,” he said.

Unmatched Access and Unusual Letters

Though her formal position is executive assistant, White House correspondents Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan have documented that Harp wields access to classified Oval Office discussions that few others enjoy, often circumventing traditional White House communication protocols. She has joined Trump at Camp David for Cabinet meetings broadcast on television and traveled aboard the presidential aircraft with him to his Bedminster, N.J. golf club — a degree of closeness that has generated considerable notice both within the administration and beyond.

The nature of their relationship has drawn scrutiny extending well past her logistical functions. Haberman and Swan previously detailed a collection of letters Harp penned to the president that colleagues characterized as intensely personal. In one such letter, she wrote, “You are all that matters to me.”

Longtime Trump biographer Michael Wolff has explored Harp’s ascent extensively on his “Inside Trump’s Head” podcast, outlining friction within Trump’s orbit. Wolff reported that Secret Service agents raised concerns with aides regarding potential risks Harp might present to herself and to Trump, though it remains unclear whether these warnings reached the president directly.

The Aide Known as “Human Printer”

Harp’s informal moniker — “Human Printer” — captures the essence of her function. Throughout Trump’s latest campaign, she traveled alongside him equipped with a portable printer to supply printed news stories. Her duties have since expanded to include purchasing merchandise, performing internet searches, suggesting Truth Social posts, and assembling uplifting news articles, social media content, and poll numbers to boost the president’s spirits during trips.

As Trump continues his West Coast itinerary, Harp remains at his side — red backpack ready — prepared to deliver whatever printed material the president requests.
