A 35-year-old British reality television personality died following what Spanish authorities are investigating as a freak accident during a party at a villa in Mallorca, with detectives believing Jake Hall suffered fatal head wounds after colliding with a glass door.
Hall, who starred on “The Only Way Is Essex” and stood 6-foot-4, was discovered by Spanish Civil Guard officers in a pool of blood at a rented property in Santa Margalida on the island’s northern coast around 7:30 a.m. on May 6, 2026. News of his death emerged on May 7.
The former footballer and model had been partying with friends when the incident occurred. An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Palma, the Mallorcan capital, as the investigation proceeds.
A Turbulent Personal Life
Hall’s romantic life had frequently been tabloid fodder. Since 2016, he has maintained an on-and-off relationship with Missé Beqiri, who appeared on “The Real Housewives of Cheshire.” The couple welcomed daughter River in November 2017 and announced their engagement in May 2018.
Following a heated argument witnessed by neighbors in December 2018, Hall received a restraining order, and the couple eventually separated. Despite the split, friends indicate the two stayed in touch because of their daughter. Following news of Hall’s death, Beqiri’s representatives released a statement: “At this time, Misse’s focus is on supporting and protecting their child as they come to terms with this devastating loss. The family ask for privacy, compassion and respect while they grieve privately.”
What Investigators Believe Happened
Hall and friends had spent the evening out before returning to the villa to continue celebrating into the early morning hours.
Authorities were informed that the situation briefly “turned aggressive,” that he became agitated, possibly from alcohol and other substances he may have consumed, and that Hall may have attempted self-harm by banging his head against objects inside the villa before the deadly impact with the glass.
Six people — four men and two women — who were staying at the villa were questioned by officers. Their nationalities have not been disclosed by the authorities. No arrests are believed to have been made.
Residents told reporters they heard disturbing sounds before police arrived, describing noises intense enough to vibrate walls. One neighbor recalled the group “hadn’t been causing problems” earlier and appeared “relatively normal,” mentioning he overheard English-language conversation about purchasing property locally. But then things changed: “I began to hear a very loud noise, as if they were drilling something. They stopped after about five minutes and then I fell asleep.”
From Essex to Reality TV Stardom
The Essex native joined ITVBe’s “The Only Way Is Essex” in 2015, rapidly establishing himself as one of the program’s most recognizable personalities. Photogenic, tall and brash, he embodied the post-clubbing glamour that transformed the show into a British cultural phenomenon.
More recently, Hall had transformed his career, dividing time between Spain and the U.K. while working as an artist and fashion entrepreneur. Mallorca became a refuge where he had started finding a calmer existence than his fame years had provided.
His evolving identity was on display in his final Instagram post, published mere hours before his death. Accompanied by the Rolling Stones’ “Beast of Burden,” the post featured Hall painting, exploring the Spanish countryside and working on fashion projects. “Life is **** sometimes but I’m gonna try remember the good things, looking through things. I’m just making art, in many forms,” he wrote.
Investigation Continues in Mallorca
Spanish authorities confirmed to the BBC that Hall’s death was accidental, though autopsy results are still pending and officials caution it remains premature to reach definitive conclusions.
British diplomats are coordinating with Spanish investigators throughout the process. A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson confirmed officials were “supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain” and were “in contact with the local authorities.”
Legendary DJ Fat Tony led an outpouring of grief on May 7, posting publicly among the first to mourn the loss. Former TOWIE co-stars and London nightlife personalities followed with tributes throughout the day. The show itself also released a statement: “Jake was a part of the TOWIE family for several years and we send our very deepest sympathies to his family and friends following today’s very sad news.”
What remains undisputed is the magnitude of loss: a young father, a television star who had outlasted the spotlight to begin creating something different, and a 35-year-old man whose last social media message simply asked to be remembered for the good things.
