A horrifying incident has left the community of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, in shock as Alonzo Pierre Mingo, aged 37, is accused of second-degree murder in a fatal home invasion.

Mingo, reportedly disguised as a UPS delivery worker, is said to have meticulously planned and executed an attack that resulted in the tragic deaths of three family members.

The victims, identified as Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, 42; her son, Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth, 20; and her husband, Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, 39, were discovered dead in their home in this suburban Minneapolis neighborhood.

On Friday, January 26, 2024, Mingo, allegedly with two accomplices, one also disguised in a UPS uniform, approached the victims’ home.

Surveillance footage reveals a grim sequence of events, including Mingo brandishing a firearm and demanding money from the occupants. The video further shows the chilling moment Mingo shot Shannon Jungwirth at point-blank range, an act witnessed by two young children under the age of five, who were able to survive the event.

Mingo, a former seasonal worker for UPS until mid-January, reportedly used his knowledge and access to UPS uniforms to perpetrate the invasion.

Mingo was arrested several hours after the crime, still in the vehicle believed to have been used in the invasion. Upon his arrest, police found UPS attire and a cardboard box in his vehicle, items presumably used to bolster his disguise. Fingerprints on the box further implicated Mingo, contradicting his statement of innocence and alibi of being home all day.

Mingo has a criminal history that includes a previous guilty plea to a federal firearms charge, aggravated battery, and a period of supervised release.

The police are still trying to establish the motive behind the murders, with investigations suggesting potential links to illicit activities. A local news source reported allegations of Estrada’s involvement in drug trafficking, which might hint at a motive for the crime. A search warrant executed on Estrada’s storage unit uncovered narcotics and suggested financial transactions connected to illegal drug sales.

The prosecution is preparing to argue for a sentence above the guidelines for Mingo, citing the brutal nature of the murders and their traumatic impact on the surviving children.

Mingo remains in custody without bail as he awaits further legal proceedings. It is yet to be determined whether charges have been filed against the two accomplices allegedly involved in the incident.
