On Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, a man and woman, both 34 years old, were found dead in their apartment from gunshot wounds to the head.

The tragedy took place in an apartment building at the juncture of 2nd Street and 5th Avenue. Authorities are treating the case as a potential murder-suicide.

The victims, identified as Jason Jackson and his girlfriend, were declared dead at the scene. The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed the pair were in a romantic relationship.

Upon investigation, law enforcement stated that Jackson’s wound appeared self-inflicted, supported by the discovery of a black handgun near his remains.

The distressing discovery was made after concerned family members, having not received any communication from one of the deceased, enlisted the services of a locksmith to access the apartment. Upon entry, they were met with a horrifying scene.

Jason Jackson, recognized in his community as a singer, songwriter, and chef, was memorialized by his brother, Foster Jackson, who praised his angelic voice and referred to him as “a good kid and sweet boy, very liked in the neighborhood.”

Jerome, a lifelong friend of Jackson, expressed his shock and grief over the incident. He reminisced about Jackson being “the most beautiful kid, handsome, funny” and emphasized the profound impact this event has had on the families involved and the Park Slope community.

The NYPD and homicide detectives arrived later that morning to conduct a preliminary investigation but did not disclose additional details to the press.
