The acclaimed actor Gary Graham, best known for his roles in “Star Trek” and “Alien Nation,” has died at the age of 73. The cause of his death was cardiac arrest.
Graham’s death was reported on January 22, 2024, in Spokane, Washington. His wife, Becky Graham, whom he was married to for nearly a quarter of a century, confirmed the sad news.
Graham was born on June 7, 1950, in Long Beach, California. He established a name for himself in the realm of science fiction.
He is best known for his role as Ambassador Soval, a Vulcan character in “Star Trek: Enterprise.” Graham’s contributions to the “Star Trek” franchise did not stop there. He also guest-starred in “Star Trek: Voyager” and appeared in two fan films, delivering performances filled with depth and detail.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Graham kick-started his career by appearing in a variety of TV shows and films, such as “The Incredible Hulk,” “Starsky and Hutch,” and “Police Woman.”
His career took off in 1989 when he landed the role of Detective Matthew Sikes in the TV series “Alien Nation.” This role became a significant part of his career, as Graham played it in five subsequent television movies from 1994 to 1997.
In the “Alien Nation” series, Graham’s portrayal of Detective Sikes, a human cop paired with an alien detective George Francisco, played by Eric Pierpoint, was key. The series aired for one season from 1989 to 1990 and has since garnered a cult following.
Besides “Star Trek” and “Alien Nation,” Graham had a successful career in both TV and film. He acted in movies such as “Hardcore,” “All the Right Moves,” and “Robot Jox.” Apart from acting, Graham also wrote a book, “Acting & Other Flying Lessons: A Practical Guide to Film Acting,” which was published in 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Becky, and a daughter, Haylee Graham, from his first marriage to Susan Lavelle.
