Famed actress Lynne Marta, recognizable for her roles in numerous films and television series, has passed away at the age of 78.

Her acting career, which spanned over four decades, came to an end on January 11, due to cancer. She passed away in her home in Los Angeles, California.

Marta, born on October 31, 1945, was a native of Somerville, New Jersey.

Her acting journey started in the 1960s with her debut on “The Lloyd Thaxton Show,” followed by appearances on “Gidget” and “The Monkees.”

Her memorable roles in “Joe Kidd” (1972) and “Footloose” (1984) have cemented her legacy in film history. In these films, she portrayed significant characters that left an indelible mark on audiences.

In “Joe Kidd,” she played a landowner’s associate, sharing the screen with Robert Duvall and intriguing a character portrayed by Clint Eastwood. Meanwhile, in “Footloose,” she became a critical part of the storyline as Lulu Warnicker, the aunt of Kevin Bacon’s character, Ren.

Marta’s television portfolio is just as impressive as her filmography. She maintained a constant presence on “Love, American Style,” and took on roles in several Aaron Spelling productions, including “The Mod Squad” and “Charlie’s Angels.”

She showcased her wide range of acting skills across different genres, including crime dramas, comedies, and soap operas like “Passions” and “Days of Our Lives.”

Her personal life, including her relationship with “Starsky & Hutch” actor David Soul, was also in the public eye. Her passing occurred just a few weeks after Soul’s demise.

She is survived by her two daughters, her sister MJ, and her beloved cat, Mr. Peaches.
