In West Palm Beach, Florida, a pizza delivery man was fatally shot during an attempted robbery while on duty.

Tommie Charles Anderson II, on his second day working for Domino’s Pizza, was the victim.

The event unfolded on January 9, 2024, shortly after Anderson had completed a delivery.

Upon hearing three gunshots immediately after the delivery, the customer who had ordered the pizza dialed 911. Responding to the call around 12:50 p.m., police officers from West Palm Beach found Anderson on the ground, wounded by bullets in his neck and arm.

Anderson was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.

Security camera footage revealed a white Honda four-door car driving up to the delivery vehicle. Roughly four hours post the shooting, the Florida Highway Patrol tracked down the Honda in West Palm Beach. The car contained three individuals: Elijsha Wingfield, 25, Avianna Kerr Williams, 25, and Marcus Williams, 29. Officers found two rifles and a 9mm pistol in the car.

Wingfield confessed to the crime, stating that he was desperately waiting for a paycheck that had not yet arrived.

According to Wingfield’s statement, he shot Anderson, who had surrendered by raising his hands, out of fear that Anderson might have a weapon.

Marcus Williams, who was armed at the time of the incident, stated that he did not fire his weapon as he recognized Anderson was unarmed.

Anderson, who was a father of two, is deeply missed by his family. His father, Tommie Anderson Jr., expressed intense sorrow over the loss of his son.

Known as a devoted father who held two jobs to provide for his children, aged six and 13, Anderson was cherished by his family.

The three suspects are facing first-degree murder charges and are currently in custody without the possibility of bail.
