Three Kansas City Chiefs enthusiasts were tragically found dead, apparently frozen, in a Kansas City, Missouri, residential backyard on January 9, 2024. The victims have been identified as David Harrington, Ricky Johnson, and Clayton McGeeney, aged 37, 38, and 36 respectively.

The three men had attended a watch party on January 7 for the Chiefs against the Los Angeles Chargers game, hosted at the residence of Jordan Willis, a prominent HIV scientist.

The disturbing discovery of the bodies was made after the fiancée of one victim reported him missing and asked the police to conduct a welfare check. Unable to reach Willis, she entered his home and found one body on the back porch. Police later found the other two victims in the backyard.

Willis, found by the police in his underwear with an empty wine glass, denied any knowledge of the men’s presence in his backyard. He also denied hearing McGeeny’s fiancee knock on the door and break into the house, or even see messages and calls, but he did hear the police when they knocked on his door.

The victims were among the guests invited to Willis’s home for the game, along with another unidentified person. Willis’s attorney, John Picerno, said that Willis had gone to bed while the party was still going on. Facing public scrutiny, Willis has now moved from his house and deactivated his social media accounts.

The victims’ families have voiced their frustrations over Willis’s inconsistent accounts and the ambiguity surrounding the cause of the deaths.

Initially, Willis claimed that he saw the men leave, but he later revised his statement, saying he was unaware of when they left. This inconsistency has led the victims’ families to demand more information about the incidents leading to their loved ones’ deaths.

Attorney Picerno confirmed that a fifth person was present with Willis and the three victims that evening. He reiterated that Willis did not leave his house and was unaware that the deceased were in his backyard. However, Willis’s account has varied over time and lacks consistency.

“None of us know what happened to these individuals and I think the most important thing to remember here, these are his three buddies,” said Picerno.

Fox News managed to interview the unidentified fifth person over the phone, who stated that when he left the house, Willis and the three victims were still awake. He emphasized that he was not the last person to see the victims alive.

The Kansas City Police Department is still investigating the incident. Autopsy results are yet to be released and it may take weeks to officially determine the cause of death. As of this time, the police have not found any evidence of criminal activity, and they are not treating the case as a homicide.

The weather on the game day reported highs of 41°F and lows of 32°F, with temperatures dropping into the teens in the days that followed.

The victims’ families are now left waiting for more information from the ongoing police investigation and the results of the autopsies.
