In journalist Ryan Grim’s new book, “The Squad: AOC and the Hope of a Political Revolution,” former President Bill Clinton is said to have reportedly criticized his wife Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Released on December 5, 2023, the book explores the political scene from 2015 to the 2022 midterms, focusing on Congressional Representative NYC Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the “Squad,” their impact on the Democratic Party, and the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Grim reveals Bill Clinton’s frustration with the 2016 campaign’s communication strategies. He reportedly told a friend the campaign “could not sell p—y on a troop train,” reflecting his view on its shortcomings in voter engagement.

Bill Clinton’s critique extends to the campaign’s failure to reach certain demographics, particularly in suburban and rural areas. This issue, alongside strategic errors like not campaigning in Wisconsin, is seen as contributing to Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump.

The book’s revelations coincide with Hillary Clinton’s increased political activity, including hosting a $1 million fundraiser for President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign.
