A woman in Gulfport, Mississippi, suffered over 50 stab wounds in an assault at her home on November 8, 2023. The Gulfport Police Department responded to an emergency call and found the woman with multiple injuries.
41-year-old Nicholas Leshaun Unger was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in relation to the attack.
The incident started outside the woman’s house, located on the 15000 block of Government Street, and escalated when Unger followed her inside.
Inside the home, Unger used a knife to repeatedly stab the woman in the face and body. The victim tried to escape by retreating to a rear bedroom, but Unger broke into the room and continued the attack. During the incident, the victim’s daughter intervened, briefly allowing her mother to escape the assailant.
The victim was quickly taken to a hospital, where she was reported in critical but stable condition.
Unger was detained and is being held at the Harrison County jail, with a bond set at $250,000.
