A plane crash resulted in the deaths of all 10 people involved, including eight aboard the aircraft and two motorists, authorities confirmed.

The Beechcraft Model 390 private jet took off from Langkawi International Airport in Malaysia at 2:08 pm on Thursday, August 17, and was scheduled to land at Subang Airport near Kuala Lumpur, the capital city.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) reported that the jet contacted the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower at around 2:47 pm and received clearance to land a minute later. Just three minutes after receiving clearance, the control tower spotted smoke at the crash site. No distress signal had been received from the aircraft.

Selangor Police Chief, Hussein Omar Khan, said that the jet lost control and crashed into a car and motorcycle on the highway, as reported by Reuters. “No one survived the crash,” announced Transport Minister Anthony Loke at a press conference.

Footage of the incident emerged on social media, displaying the aircraft exploding into flames upon impact, with thick black smoke and debris spreading across the area.

The 10 victims comprised six passengers, two crew members, and two passing motorists—one in a car and one on a motorcycle, said local police chief Mohamad Iqbal Ibrahim.

Although the names of the victims have not been officially released pending forensic examination, the BBC reported that among the deceased were pilot Shahrul Kamal Roslan, who is survived by a wife and four sons, and a local politician.

An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is currently underway, Transport Minister Loke told reporters.
