A 32-year-old security guard at Dragonfly Hollywood nightclub in Los Angeles was beaten to death by a large group of people suspected to be members of a gang.

The victim, Daniel Sandifer, of Compton, California, was attacked near Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue around 2 am on Sunday, July 30.

Witnesses reported that a verbal dispute quickly turned violent, with the group attacking and trampling Sandifer, even stomping on his head. Upon arrival, police found the man unconscious on the street. Despite immediate medical attention, he died from his injuries at the hospital.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is now searching for approximately 11 suspects involved in the assault.

The reason behind the attack remains unclear, and it is yet to be established whether the suspects had any prior interaction with Sandifer or the nightclub. Dragonfly Hollywood, known for its vibrant hip-hop scene and celebrity clientele, has temporarily closed and postponed its upcoming event following the incident.

The LAPD is appealing to witnesses, particularly those who may have recorded the incident on their phones, to come forward with any information. Detective Samuel Marullo emphasized the significance of any potential video evidence in prosecuting the assailants.

Sandifer’s cousin, Evette Sandifer, confirmed his identity, describing him as a dedicated worker and a loving father to his two daughters. He was also the primary caregiver for their grandmother, who is in hospice care.

The LAPD has pledged to apprehend those responsible for the attack and ensure justice for Sandifer’s premature death.
