Police say that a shooting that shocked Wisconsin this week resulted in the deaths of a 15-year-old boy and wounded five women. The family and Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the murdered teenager as Davion Patterson.

Police believe an argument started the shooting that injured six individuals on West Concordia Avenue in Milwaukee at 11:30 p.m. on March 20. Police reported that the boy was declared dead at the scene. According to a press announcement, five women, between the ages of 18 and 22, were transported to a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities arrested a 15-year-old boy as a suspect in the shooting. His identity has not been made public.

The shooting left several residents in the town distraught. According to WTMJ-TV, an unnamed neighbor said he was terrified and shaken up so much that he could not go to work. Another neighbor said incidents like this occur too often. One neighbor told Fox 6 news that it had happened every night and that seeing children being shot was devastating. She wants something to be done about it.

According to his sister Mari, Patterson was trying to break up a quarrel when he was shot. She told the media she was one of the five young women injured in the incident. She remembers glancing down the street and her brother was on the ground, and then she held him for as long as she could.

Patterson was a sophomore at Milwaukee Excellence Charter School and was regarded by his family as a bright and good kid.

Another neighbor said her 16-year-old daughter was killed by a gunshot in the same neighborhood almost three years ago, and now another black parent had to bury their child. She said Milwaukee is not a good place to raise children these days.
