Two Planes Cross Paths Over Orlando Airport and Almost Collide

They say almost doesn’t count… but it does.

Two planes almost collided into each other above Orlando International Airport last month, according to ABC News.

The near-disaster was seen on video taken inside the smaller plane, and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

The pilot of a small plane, a single-engine Cessna, came within 500 feet vertically, and 1500 feet horizontally, of a Delta 757 that was also taking off from the Orlando airport.

Each pilot was able to see the other.

The pilot of the smaller plane, Malik Clarke, did some quick thinking and got out of the way in a quick ascent.

His actions probably prevented a major disaster.

“If I hadn’t done that evasive maneuver, it’s quite likely there would have been a mid-air collision,” Clarke said.

Clearly, someone messed up.

“It was somebody’s error to put them in the same part of the sky,” said Steve Ganyard, who is a former employee of the State Department and an ABC News contributor.
