Elton John, who recently collaborated for a top-selling single hit, “Cold Heart (Remix), with Dua Lupa, has created a new single with a bunch of his songs, with pop star Britney Spears, in their first collaboration.

The song, “Hold Me Closer” features Elton John’s piano genius, and has a background of his 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer.” It adds parts from his songs “The One” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” all big hits from the past.

The song starts with both John and Spears signing the beginning of “The One,” and moves into “Tiny Dancer.”

Elton John and Britney Spears met in 2014 at a party, but her tweet later that she loved the song  “Tiny Dancer” might have been the source of the idea to collaborate.

Elton John, after more than 50 years performing, is on the road right now doing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

Spears’ collaboration with John  is her first new music since “Glory,” her 2016 album.

In praise of Spears, Elton John said, “She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and she sounds amazing on this record. I love her dearly and am delighted with what we’ve created together.”

Spears, in her statement, thanked Elton John for the honor of being included, and said, ”I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to work with you and your legendary mind.”

The single is produced by notorious Andrew Watt, who has worked with several top stars, including Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, to name a couple.

Elton John announced his new single on Twitter.
