Indianapolis Shooting at Hampton Inn Kills a Dutch Soldier Training in the US

Three Dutch commandos were shot, and one of them died, in a shooting outside their Hampton Inn in downtown Indianapolis. The soldiers, from the Netherlands, were receiving training in the US. 

Police believe that the shooting may have been connected with an earlier fight between the soldiers and other individuals in downtown Indianapolis. The incident is under investigation.

The commandos are members of the Commando Corps, a special operations unit from the Dutch armed forces. The soldiers were in the US for training exercises at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, and they were scheduled to head to Indiana’s state capitol at the end of their day. The incident occurred in front of their Hampton Inn hotel while they were off-duty.

In addition to the man that passed away, the two other victims were badly injured, but were conscious and able to speak. 

The Dutch Ministry of Defense released a statement that the man passed away with his family and colleagues at his side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the crime. They are coordinating with various agencies in the Netherlands and the United States and making arrangements with family members of the shooting victims. 

The Muscatatuck Urban Training Center is a huge complex about 40 miles outside Indianapolis. The Department of Defense uses this facility for training, often involving international soldiers.

The most recent update says the two soldiers are in stable condition. However, the incident is still being monitored and investigated, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
