Drunk Pilot Lands Plane on Interstate

A pilot that had too much to drink had to make a quick decision when his fuel tank read “empty” and he had to find a place to land.

He chose to land his aircraft in the middle of the Interstate 70 highway, near Kansas City.

Luckily it was the middle of the night and there wasn’t too much traffic. If the accident had occurred during the day, it could have been a disaster.

The pilot was alone in the plane, and he hit a highway guardrail when he landed. He managed to miss hitting anything or anyone else, according to a tweet by Missouri State Highway Patrol

What he probably didn’t plan for was that upon arrival he was greeted by officers who arrested him for flying while intoxicated.

The pilot had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, after he was arrested.

Surprisingly, (or not), this wasn’t the first time the Missouri State Highway Patrol had an encounter with an intoxicated pilot.

In February, a pilot involved in a plane crash in the woods was booked for flying while intoxicated. Police determined the pilot was drunk after he was able to get out of the plane.

In a more uplifting story, a pilot in Florida (not intoxicated) showed off his skills in an emergency landing of a single-engine aircraft on a four-lane North Carolina highway, barely missing cars and power lines as he touched down.
