Greek investigators are examining a “strange noise” heard by residents moments before a honeymoon helicopter plunged into a hillside on the island of Sifnos on Monday, August 17, 2026, killing British newlyweds Alexander Cromie, 31, and Marie Ebert, 30, along with their pilot. Employers Express Shock
Bain & Company released a statement describing Ebert as a “much-loved and deeply respected member” of its London team whose professional abilities earned widespread admiration. The consulting firm said it was providing support to her family and colleagues while extending sympathy to the families of Cromie and Raikos.
A Bain spokesperson called the firm heartbroken.
Blackstone issued its own statement through a spokesperson saying: “We are shocked by the tragic passing of three people including our colleague Alex Cromie and his wife Marie Ebert, who were celebrating their honeymoon.”
