Welsh actor Owain Rhys Davies, who played FBI Agent Wilson in the 2017 revival of “Twin Peaks,” died on June 2, 2026, his family announced, though news of his death first surfaced on May 30. He was 44.
Rhodri Davies and Conway Davies, the actor’s brother and father, issued a joint statement on Instagram saying Owain passed “suddenly, naturally, and peacefully,” though questions about the circumstances surrounding his death remain. The announcement left fans, colleagues and loved ones reeling.
In the Instagram statement, Rhodri Davies painted a portrait of a brother whose connections extended far beyond blood relations. He wrote that Owain “was fortunate enough to have more than one family,” having built “extraordinary, family-like bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones.”
Rhodri described the outpouring of messages the family has received as “deeply moving,” and asked for privacy as they begin making arrangements. “Thank you for your kindness, your messages, and for keeping Owain in your thoughts,” he wrote.
A Career Spanning Screen and Stage
Owain Rhys Davies was born February 20, 1982, in Cardiff, Wales, and raised in St. Clears in Carmarthenshire, where he first developed a passion for performance through local theater productions. That early love of the stage would eventually take him to London’s West End, where he performed in productions of “Mamma Mia!” and “The Wizard of Oz,” and later to international screens.
He appeared alongside Johnny Depp in Disney’s 2016 fantasy “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” and starred in the Netflix sci-fi drama “The OA” with Brit Marling and Jason Isaacs.
