Jennifer Lopez Says She’s Done With Marriage

During her European tour, Jennifer Lopez made it clear to fans that she is likely finished with marriage, after having tied the knot four times in the past.

Lopez addressed her romantic future during her Up All Night tour stop in Europe on July 17, 2025. Responding to a fan holding a “J. Lo Marry Me” sign, she told the crowd, “I think I’m done with that,” and lightly added that she’s “already tried that a few times.”

Earlier this year, the 55-year-old finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck, officially ending their two-year union. Lopez had submitted divorce papers on August 20, 2024—exactly two years after their elaborate wedding in Georgia—doing so without the help of a lawyer, in what appeared to be a purposeful move.

Over the years, Lopez has been married four times: first to actor Ojani Noa in 1997, then to choreographer Cris Judd in 2001, and later to singer Marc Anthony in 2004, with whom she has 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme. She was also engaged to baseball star Alex Rodriguez in 2017, though they never wed.

Lopez and Affleck reportedly ended their marriage on friendly terms, choosing to keep their separately earned assets. They agreed on the division of their $61 million Beverly Hills mansion, but details remain undisclosed, and the property is currently up for sale. Neither will pay spousal support, and Lopez decided to drop Affleck as her surname.

Throughout 2024, rumors about marital tensions surfaced. By May, media sources reported that Affleck had left their shared home, suggesting the pair had been living apart since March but continued to show unity in public as Lopez focused on her album and documentary releases.

Communication between the two broke down entirely during their separation, and by August 2024, sources noted they had stopped speaking, both face-to-face and by phone, complicating divorce discussions. Initially, both managed the process through business managers, not lawyers.

The couple’s struggles were captured in Lopez’s Prime documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which debuted in February 2025. The film highlighted the friction caused by conflicting attitudes toward publicity, with Affleck feeling uneasy with Lopez’s openness, especially when she shared his personal love letters.

After the split, Lopez described feeling free and eager to reclaim her independence. In May 2025, she told fans she felt “really healthy and good,” ready to spread joy through music and dance, and called this time ideal for celebrating her “freedom and happiness.”

Since the breakup, Lopez has kept her attention on her kids and her career. She hosted the 2025 American Music Awards that May, delivering a seven-minute routine complete with choreographed dance numbers, and announced a residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for late December through early January 2026, as well as much of March 2026.

Throughout this transition, Lopez has underscored her determination to support her children. She shared with El País that she guided them through challenging moments and is proud that they came out “stronger and better for it,” expressing her pride in their resilience.

Her current tour is her first in six years, featuring a major performance at WorldPride in Washington, D.C., for Pride Month and other shows where she expects her children to join her in the audience.

Lopez’s marriage to Affleck had been a second chance at love, as the two were previously together and engaged in the early 2000s. Their 2021 reunion drew significant media interest, inspiring Lopez’s album and documentary centered on their renewed relationship.
