Reality TV Star Dead at 33

Reality television personality Kirk Medas, recognized for his role in MTV’s “Floribama Shore,” has died at the age of 33. Medas passed on Friday, May 2, 2025, after being hospitalized for nearly two weeks in an intensive care unit in Miami, Florida.

His father reported that Medas succumbed to liver failure following a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis. Before his passing, Medas had been admitted to intensive care due to this critical medical condition, which was further complicated by sepsis.

An MTV representative expressed profound sorrow over Medas’s passing, referring to him as a valued member of the “Floribama Shore” ensemble. They offered their sympathies to his family, friends, and fans during this difficult period.

Medas gained recognition among reality TV audiences through his participation in the “Jersey Shore” spin-off, appearing alongside cast members Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant, Candace Rice, Gus Smyrnios, and Kortni Gilson. He joined the series during its initial season in 2017 and remained a key cast member throughout its four-season duration on MTV until the show was canceled.

The executive producer of Floribama Shore, SallyAnn Salsano, and production company 495 Productions shared their condolences in a statement to TMZ.

Medical experts note that necrotizing pancreatitis occurs when inflammation of the pancreas becomes so extreme that it results in tissue death. This severe condition can lead to both immediate and long-term complications. Medas had been contending with the illness for over two weeks in the hospital before his death.

In the days leading up to his passing, Medas’s former co-stars used social media to request support. Castmate Aimee Hall disclosed that Medas had been in the ICU for over two weeks. His fellow cast members also circulated a GoFundMe page to assist with his medical expenses, as Medas lacked health insurance.

Upon the news of his death, Hall paid homage to her friend on social media, stating how she had lost “a brother” and “best friend.” She highlighted Medas’s kind soul and his love for everyone he encountered. Hall described Medas as “the glue that held us all together” and said he “loved each and every one of us so deeply, with a heart bigger than this world.”

Nilsa Prowant, another cast member close to Medas, also shared her recollections of him following his death. She recounted how Medas had supported her over the past eight years, even accompanying her mother down the aisle.

Prior to his hospitalization, Medas’s last social media post was on April 15, showing him on a balcony overlooking Miami. In addition to his time on “Floribama Shore,” Medas appeared with some of his co-stars on a special episode of “Fear Factor” in 2018, competing against cast members from “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.” He also featured in an episode of “How Far Is Tattoo Far?”
