Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend, Bettina Anderson, recently utilized social media to defend him after a profile in New York Magazine referred to him in negative terms.
The profile was part of an article titled “How Donald Trump Jr. Brought Elon Musk Into MAGA” and included a remark from a Palm Beach, Florida insider who expressed surprise at Anderson’s relationship choice. The insider labeled Trump Jr. as “the most despised member of the family; he’s an asshole, a spoiled heir.”
Anderson, 38, responded on her Instagram story, captioning a screenshot of the magazine’s comment with “That’s my guy” and adding, “DEFINITELY an ‘insider’ VERY familiar with @donaldtrumpjr,” accompanied by laughing face emojis, indicating her disbelief at the description.
The Palm Beach socialite further criticized the anonymous sources, calling them “cowards” for not revealing their identities. She shared a quote stating, “Rumors are started by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”
Anderson also posted a message lauding Trump Jr., describing him as “the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful and brilliant person I have ever known,” in stark contrast to the article’s portrayal.
Trump Jr. addressed the article on Instagram, stating, “Don’t get me wrong, I can totally be an asshole when I need to be… if you’re adversarial to my friends, my family, my country, MAGA, etc.” He added, “But I think you’d be hard pressed to find a regular person who actually knows me who thinks that.”
He also directly challenged the anonymous source, urging them to “man up” and “put your name to it” instead of remaining anonymous.
The couple, who started dating in late 2024, have been the focus of increased media scrutiny following Trump Jr.’s breakup with his former fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle. Their relationship was made public in December, shortly before Trump Jr. confirmed his split from Guilfoyle.
Reports indicate that Trump Jr. and Anderson had been dating for months before he officially announced his separation from Guilfoyle. Trump Jr. had introduced Anderson as his girlfriend during a trip to Alaska while still engaged to Guilfoyle.
The breakup between Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle was reportedly amicable. Trump Jr. acknowledged Guilfoyle’s contributions to his father’s political movement and highlighted her new role as the U.S. ambassador to Greece, a post she was nominated for by President Donald Trump after his election in November 2024.
Sources have described Trump Jr. as “smitten” with Anderson. An insider told Us Magazine they are “super cute and happy together,” noting previous tensions between Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle, with public arguments at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
The New York Magazine article extends beyond Trump Jr.’s personal life, detailing his transformation from a “failson” to a significant political figure within the Trump family and the MAGA movement.
It describes Trump Jr. as a key link between his father and influential figures in Silicon Valley, such as Elon Musk and Peter Thiel. The article also covers his alliances with controversial political figures and his involvement in business ventures, including a cryptocurrency initiative with his father.
The article further explores Trump Jr.’s involvement in the January 6th events and his rise in conservative political circles. It portrays him as having substantial influence within the Trump administration, including convincing Elon Musk to establish a social media platform aligned with MAGA interests.
Meanwhile, Guilfoyle has reportedly expressed a desire to maintain a relationship with Trump Jr. post-split. According to Economic Times, she values their shared history, mutual friends, and ongoing involvement in the Trump political movement.
Following the initial reactions to the New York Magazine article, both Trump Jr. and Anderson have resumed their usual social media activities. Anderson recently shared a quote by Donatella Versace about elegance, while Trump Jr. continues to promote his father’s presidency as the “golden age of America.”
