Soni Dimond, a pioneering broadcaster and popular morning show host at ABC27 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 9, 2025 at 67 years of age. She had experienced a heart attack on December 27, 2024.
Dimond, who called herself a “60-something Queenager,” became well-known for her inspiring and energetic “Vibrant Living” segment on “Good Day PA.” Here, she motivated viewers to fully embrace life.

Dimond started her television career in 1978 as an intern at WTPA-TV 27 (now ABC27). Within a year, she advanced to become the station’s first weekend news anchor. ABC27’s Executive Digital Producer, George Stockburger, recalled Dimond for the glamour and energy she brought to the ABC27 studio.
In the 1980s, Dimond moved from television news to entrepreneurship, establishing Soni Dimond Media, a public relations firm specializing in fashion and lifestyle. Her business skills were acknowledged when her company won the Best 50 Women in Business in Pennsylvania Award in 2003.
The broadcasting industry called her back in 2018 when she rejoined ABC27 part-time to host segments on “Good Day PA.” It was during that time she developed “Vibrant Living,” a segment aimed at inspiring seniors to live with enthusiasm.
Amy Kehm, her colleague and “Good Day PA” anchor, reflected on Soni’s lasting impact. She described “Vibrant Living” as a true representation of Dimond’s limitless energy and joy. Kehm stated that knowing Soni had changed her life and commented, “It seems almost poetic that she carried the name Dimond because she truly lit up every room.”

Her funeral will be held on January 17 at the Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Harrisburg Street in Oberlin, Pennsylvania.
