A bride-to-be, aged 24, tragically lost her life in Guatemala due to a motorcycle accident caused by a mechanical failure from a passing truck. This unfortunate incident, which occurred just days before her wedding, left her fiancé with serious injuries.
On December 4, Madelyn Rosely Caracun Perez and her 29-year-old fiancé, Davilson Gesell Canimac Miranda, were on a motorcycle distributing their wedding invitations in Chicacao, a town in the Suchitepequez department of Guatemala.
Local authorities report that a part of the transmission dislodged from a nearby truck due to a mechanical malfunction, and hit the couple’s motorcycle. This resulted in Perez being thrown off the vehicle and pronounced dead at the site of the accident. Miranda sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
The couple had plans to get married on December 14, 2024. In the wake of the accident, family members congregated at the crash site to pay tribute to Perez. They are now urging authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
In response to the accident, community members are banding together to help the affected families with financial difficulties. A fundraising event is being organized to assist with the medical expenses of Miranda and the funeral costs of Perez.
The local police have initiated an investigation into the mechanical failure of the truck and are working on establishing the sequence of events that caused the transmission component to dislodge. As of yet, the identity of the driver and the company running the vehicle have not been disclosed.
Miranda remains in the hospital under medical supervision, with his condition still being closely monitored by doctors. The family members have asked for privacy during this difficult time, while continuing to push for a thorough investigation into the accident.
