In a recent discussion with “Entertainment Tonight,” actor Ben Affleck unexpectedly commended Jennifer Lopez for her role in their forthcoming film “Unstoppable,” notwithstanding their ongoing divorce.
Affleck, a 52-year-old actor-director who produced the sports drama through his Artists Equity production company, stated “Jennifer is spectacular,” while promoting another project with Matt Damon and Cillian Murphy.
“‘Unstoppable’ is a very different movie than this but in a way it’s similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists,” noted Affleck. “Goldenberg and Jennifer and Don Cheadle and Jharrel, and Bobby Cannavale – all were really passionate about this film.”
The movie, helmed by William Goldenberg, features Lopez as Judy Robles, the mother of a one-legged champion wrestler from Arizona State University, Anthony Robles, played by Jharrel Jerome. The film tells the true story of Anthony’s athletic journey.
In response to Affleck’s remarks, Lopez attributed the film’s success to the collective efforts of the entire cast and crew.
The pair’s professional interaction unfolds amidst their divorce procedures, initiated when Lopez, 55, filed in August 2024, marking two years since their wedding held at Affleck’s Georgia residence. The duo first took their vows in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Little White Chapel on July 16, 2022.
Their romantic history spans over 20 years, beginning with their meeting during the filming of “Gigli” in 2001. After their first engagement ended in 2004, Affleck married Jennifer Garner and Lopez wed Marc Anthony. Their relationship reignited in April 2021 following Lopez’s split from Alex Rodriguez.
Despite their ongoing divorce, Affleck and Lopez continue to maintain their professional relationship through “Unstoppable,” set to hit theaters on December 6. The movie marks a joint venture through Artists Equity, Affleck’s production company co-founded with Matt Damon.
Affleck and Lopez share a blended family. Lopez is a mother to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme from her marriage to Marc Anthony, while Affleck has three children with Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
