Lucas Coly, a French-American rapper of 27 years, was tragically confirmed dead last week in Las Vegas, Nevada. The rapper, who gained international fame through his hit single “I Just Wanna” and his active social media presence, died by suicide. A single gunshot wound to the head was the cause, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The rapper’s manager, I Discover Stars, confirmed on October 3, 2024 that Coly had been grappling with mental health issues for a while. He expressed his deep sense of loss, “Being your manager was one of the reasons I stayed here,” he indicated, outlining a “hole in my heart” following Coly’s death.

Amber H., Coly’s girlfriend and a social media influencer, posted her own response online. In a live video, she disclosed that she had been on the phone with him in his last moments and had tried to support him. “I did everything I could,” she stated with visible emotion. “He could not take the breakup, and that’s just what it is. I couldn’t do it anymore.”

Coly’s rise to fame initially began on the platform Vine, and his popularity increased as he moved to YouTube and Instagram, amassing over 1.3 million followers. Despite his significant success, Coly often openly discussed his struggles, revealing in an interview that academics were never a priority for him. He admitted to struggling in school, with his primary goal always being a career in rap.

Although born in France, Coly moved to the United States at the age of eight. His French heritage often influenced his music, and he had expressed a wish to incorporate more French elements to connect with his international audience. He was also known for his long-standing relationship with Amber, which was frequently shared on social media.

Coly’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through his fans and loved ones. His social media profiles have been inundated with messages of support and mourning, with fans expressing their sadness and honoring his memory. “Rest in paradise, Lucas. You’re finally at peace,” a fan wrote.
