Longstanding “Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White recently disclosed her early concerns about working with the show’s new host, Ryan Seacrest, who took over the role on September 9. White, who has been a mainstay on the show for over four decades alongside Pat Sajak, admitted she was initially “very scared” about the change, but has since grown more comfortable with her new co-host.

In an open discussion, White voiced her concerns about adjusting to a new co-host after a lengthy tenure with Sajak. However, she has been pleased with her on-screen chemistry with Seacrest. Despite her initial fears stemming from years of working with the same partner, White has acknowledged Seacrest’s excellent performance in his new role.

This significant change was prompted by Pat Sajak’s retirement from “Wheel of Fortune” in June 2023, concluding his 41-season run as host. Seacrest was subsequently announced as Sajak’s successor, signing a multi-year contract to host the long-established show.

Despite initial doubts, White has praised Seacrest’s approach to his new position. In an exclusive interview with People magazine, she commended her new co-host, stating, “He’s professional, he’s kind, he’s hard-working. We’ve known each other for 20 years, so I think he’s a good fit.”

Interestingly, White and Seacrest share a connection that predates their current professional relationship. Both have ties to Merv Griffin, the creator of “Wheel of Fortune.” White revealed that they first met at Griffin’s funeral in 2007.

As White and Seacrest began their new era on “Wheel of Fortune,” they have been working diligently to foster their on-screen rapport. White revealed that they have been traveling together for the show over the past few months, which has helped them understand each other better. This shared experience off-camera seems to be enhancing their on-screen interactions.

Seacrest has shown considerable enthusiasm about joining the show and working with White. After his appointment was made public, Seacrest expressed deep humility about stepping into the esteemed shoes of Pat Sajak. He acknowledged the privilege and joy of watching Pat and Vanna on television screens for an astounding four decades, bringing a sense of warmth and familiarity to viewers every evening.

The mutual respect between White and Seacrest is evident. Seacrest has openly expressed his admiration for White, stating that “Wheel of Fortune” wouldn’t be the same without her. Their time together on set has been positive, suggesting a promising start to their professional relationship.

As “Wheel of Fortune” transitions into a new phase, viewers can expect more changes than just the hosting duo. Seacrest revealed in a recent interview that the show will introduce a new set design to coincide with his debut as host, indicating a refreshed look for the long-standing game show.

White’s dedication to the show is evident in her recent contract extension. She has committed to continuing as co-host through at least the 2025-2026 season, providing a familiar presence for viewers amidst the changes. Her tenure on the show began in 1982 as a model, before evolving into the iconic letter-turner and co-host known and loved by audiences for decades.

Seacrest brings extensive hosting experience to his new position. His television hosting career, which began in 1993, includes major productions like “American Idol,” “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” “LIVE With Kelly and Ryan,” and “E! News.” His vast experience with live television and audience engagement is set to serve him well as he steps into the iconic role of “Wheel of Fortune” host.
