Ex-President Donald Trump voiced his preference for Brittany Mahomes over Taylor Swift on Wednesday, September 11. This came after Swift’s public endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Brittany Mahomes, who is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is reportedly a Trump supporter.
Speaking on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” during an interview, the 78-year-old former leader was asked about Swift’s recent endorsement of Harris. Trump responded, “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan.”
Trump further expressed his admiration for Brittany Mahomes, stating, “I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great. She’s a big, she’s a big MAGA fan. Much better than Taylor Swift.”
Mahomes recently made news for liking an Instagram post by Trump outlining his “2024 GOP Platform.” The post included promises like excluding “men OUT of women’s sports” and reducing federal funding for schools teaching “Critical Race Theory” and “Radical Gender Ideology.”
Swift’s fans criticized Mahomes for her Instagram like, leading her to respond via her Instagram Story that people can “disagree with someone, and still love them.” Mahomes later unliked Trump’s post and currently does not follow him.
Trump hinted that Swift’s endorsement of Harris could potentially impact her financially.
Swift declared her support for Harris on Instagram following their recent debate. Swift praised Harris as “a steady-handed, gifted leader” and said she was voting for her because she “fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
This is not Swift’s first public support for Democratic candidates. In 2020, she backed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. She has also endorsed other Democratic candidates in past elections.
J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, also chimed in on Swift’s endorsement, saying that a “billionaire celebrity” like Swift is “disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans.”
There’s been speculation about a possible divide between Mahomes and Swift, who are known to be friends through their Kansas City Chiefs connections; Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and Brittany is married to Patrick Mahomes. Despite these political differences, recent sightings suggest their friendship remains unstrained.
Patrick Mahomes has stated he won’t endorse a presidential candidate this year, opting not to use his social media platform for political purposes.
The influence of celebrity endorsements on voting behavior continues to be a subject of discussion as public figures increasingly express their political views.
