More Problems For Actor Kevin Spacey

The waterfront mansion in Baltimore, Maryland, owned by actor Kevin Spacey, has been sold, however, the actor is refusing to surrender the property.

Spacey is resisting vacating his 9,000-square-foot mansion, which was sold through a foreclosure auction. He initially bought the property in 2017 for $5.65 million. The July 2023 auction saw real estate investor Sam Asgari acquiring the property for $3.24 million.

Asgari claims that Spacey insisted on staying in the property for six months without paying rent. Despite attempts to negotiate with his legal team, Spacey, as of mid-August 2024, was still holding onto the property and refusing to move out.

The six-bedroom property located in the upscale Inner Harbor area of Baltimore includes features such as a billiard room, home theater, chef’s kitchen, and a four-car garage. After his 2017 dismissal from Netflix’s “House of Cards” due to sexual assault allegations, Spacey called this mansion his primary home. This dismissal triggered a series of legal and financial difficulties for the actor.

Spacey’s financial woes culminated in his inability to maintain the $20,230 monthly mortgage payments on the property, leading to the foreclosure auction. “I’ve lost everything,” the actor revealed his mounting debts in a June 2024 interview with Piers Morgan.

While the sale has occurred, court approval is required to transfer legal ownership to Asgari. If Spacey continues to refuse to leave, Asgari may resort to legal eviction with the assistance of local law enforcement. Spacey’s legal team has refuted Asgari’s claims, labeling them as baseless.

Confronting ongoing legal battles due to multiple sexual misconduct allegations, this foreclosure is another setback for Spacey. Although he was cleared of charges in London in 2023, his shaky financial situation led him to list his central London penthouse for sale at $3.8 million.

Asgari remains hopeful for a peaceful resolution as the legal process proceeds. However, the unresolved negotiations have led to a standoff between the beleaguered actor and the real estate investor. For the time being, the future of Spacey’s stay in the luxurious Baltimore mansion hangs in the balance.
