Hugo Vickers, a famous royal biographer, has made an unexpected prediction that Prince Harry might one day return to royal duties in the UK, but without his spouse, Meghan Markle. The author of Prince Edward’s memoir “A Royal Life,” characterized Prince Harry as an “angry” person who is deeply “afraid” of losing his wife.
Vickers expressed his belief that King Charles III would embrace the return of his son. He articulated, “The King has left the door wide open for him to do that, and he was doing such a good job before and… he looked so happy.”
Prince Harry and Meghan, who stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States, have only visited the UK a handful of times. Their most recent joint trip was to attend the Queen’s funeral in 2022. According to Vickers, Harry’s solo return to the UK could be a positive move. “If he comes home, we must be very nice to him because he won’t particularly want to,” Vickers stated, underlining the significance of extending a warm welcome to Harry.
Grant Harrold, a former royal butler to King Charles, shared similar views. For Prince Harry, aged 39, to be accepted back into the royal family, Harrold believes a public apology for the damage caused by his revealing memoir, “Spare,” is necessary. Harrold noted, “The only way I see this happening is a public acknowledgment from Harry, where he says that he’s sorry for the hurt that the book created.”
Jennie Bond, another royal expert, proposed that while Prince Harry could eventually be forgiven and accepted back into the royal family, this reconciliation would likely necessitate a separation from Meghan. “I think that Harry, without Meghan, would be forgiven and welcomed back into the royal fold in the fullness of time,” Bond observed.
During his latest solo trip to the UK to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, Prince Harry expressed his desire to see his father, although their schedules did not permit a meeting. Meghan, 42, who has not visited the UK since the Queen’s funeral, chose to remain in the US with their children during Harry’s visit.
Nevertheless, it remains unclear how or when such a return could potentially occur. The ongoing conflict between Prince Harry and the royal family, particularly his brother Prince William, adds a layer of complexity to the situation. Harrold commented, “Some hurtful remarks were made, and not all families know how to reconcile.”
