A newlywed woman in St. Petersburg, Russia tragically died on her wedding night after falling from a high-rise apartment.

The 23-year-old bride, Ksenia Vodyanitskaya, fell approximately 160 feet from the 15th floor of the apartment building she shared with her new husband, Kirill, 24. The unfortunate event happened just hours after the wedding ceremony and reception, shortly after the couple’s return to their home.

After discovering Ksenia’s body, a distraught Kirill contacted emergency services. He was interrogated by police about the circumstances leading up to the fall, but he denied any involvement. Preliminary police reports have suggested that the fall was accidental, but the investigation is still ongoing.

The late Ksenia was a passionate photographer and a recent graduate of St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. According to family and friends, there were no visible signs of trouble between the couple during the wedding. A local newspaper, Moskovsky Komsomolets, quoted close acquaintances saying, “Testimony from friends and relatives indicate that there were no serious problems in the couple’s relationship,” and “The young man sincerely loved his bride, and simply could not harm her, the friends of the deceased are certain.”

This tragic event is reminiscent of another unfortunate incident earlier this year. In April, a 38-year-old bride, Elisangela Gazano, drowned during her wedding reception in Limeira, Brazil. Gazano lost her balance while dancing near a swimming pool and fell in. Despite attempts to save her, Gazano suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital.

A friend of Gazano, Flavia Silva, remarked, “Look how fate is a dream being fulfilled and on the same day without knowing that there would be a goodbye that there would be your departure.”
