Ryan Hadley, a notable participant in the sixth season of “Ink Master,” died on June 20, 2024. He was 46 and had been battling seminoma cancer. His death was announced by his family via Instagram, stating that he passed away surrounded by his loved ones.
Hadley, a resident of Indiana, was a highly skilled tattoo artist, celebrated for his realistic designs. His family, in their Instagram post, spoke of their grief and emphasized Hadley’s significant contributions to the art and tattoo industries. “Ryan passed away last night, surrounded by his loved ones,” the post read. “Though his life was brief, he left a significant legacy in the art and tattoo communities. He cherished his fans, friends, clients, and especially his children. He will be deeply missed and always remembered as a legend.”
In December 2023, Hadley publicly announced his diagnosis of seminoma, a malignant germ cell tumor related to testicular cancer. Despite receiving intensive chemotherapy, the disease spread to his liver and lungs, making it incurable.
Throughout his illness, Hadley kept his Instagram followers informed, demonstrating his resolve to fight the disease. “I’m here, and I’m not giving up, not now, not ever. I’m determined to stay on this earth until I’ve ensured my loved ones have a good life before I leave this body,” he shared.
A GoFundMe campaign was initiated to assist Hadley with his medical costs and support his children during this difficult time. The campaign outlined Hadley’s commitment to his family and his inability to work during treatment. “Ryan owns a tattoo & art gallery in Indiana and cares for his boys, all under 12. This GoFundMe is to help Ryan pay his bills and provide food for his family while he’s undergoing treatment,” the campaign elaborated. The fundraising effort managed to collect more than $6,000.
The death of Hadley has deeply saddened the tattoo community. Many have expressed their condolences and recalled his substantial contributions to the field. Durb Morrison, a fellow tattoo artist, commented, “We extend our condolences. Ryan was an incredible friend, artist, and father. He will be deeply missed.”
Another prominent tattoo artist, Freddy Negrete, expressed his sorrow, stating, “Wow what a loss to us all, my deepest condolences 🙏.”
Beyond his technical skills, Hadley’s commitment to his profession and his resilience in the face of adversity have left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
In his last months, Hadley showed immense appreciation to his supporters. “I want to express my gratitude to all my clients, sponsors, friends, and family for 25 amazing years in tattooing,” he posted on Instagram. He remained hopeful and focused on his family’s future, despite his severe health condition.
The death of Ryan Hadley is a significant loss to the tattoo industry, but his influence and legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire artists and admirers alike.
