On June 15, 2024, Ivana Pino Arellano, a cherished country singer known as “La Rancherita de Chanco,” died in a car accident. The incident occurred a day after her 32nd birthday on the M-80 road near Pelluhe, in the Maule Region of central Chile.
Arellano, a mother to four children, was behind the wheel when she lost control of her car in slippery conditions and collided with a concrete barrier. This impact caused her vehicle to overturn on the side of the road. Arellano was pronounced dead at the scene, while her passenger sustained severe injuries and was transported to the Cauquenes hospital.
The Municipality of Chanco, where she had a substantial fan base, released a statement on social media. They referred to her as an “unforgettable figure whose charisma will resonate eternally in our lives.” They added, “To us, the name ‘Ivana’ will always symbolize pure happiness and joy. Thank you, Ivana, for bringing us days of light and harmony. Your departure leaves an unfillable void, but your legacy will live on, reminding us of the beauty of your spirit and the generosity of your heart.”
Originally from Chile, Pino Arellano was renowned for her singing talent and stage charisma. She frequently performed “ranchera,” a traditional type of Mexican music. Her appearances at various festivals and events attracted large audiences who appreciated her vocal skills and dynamic personality.
As per local media, Pino Arellano’s car was significantly damaged, with the wreckage visible by the side of the road. The local police are conducting an investigation to establish the exact cause of the accident.
The local council paid tribute to Pino Arellano’s contributions to society, highlighting her dedication to public service. “Ivana personified the spirit of public service with a passion and love, always ready to help others and find solutions even in the most difficult moments,” their statement read. They also discussed her commitment to her family: “Her husband and children were the foundation of her life, motivating her every effort and sacrifice.”

On June 17, Ivana Pino Arellano was buried at the Curanipe Parish Cemetery in Pelluhe.
