At the Jhpiego Laughter Is the Best Medicine Gala, Rumer Willis, the oldest daughter of renowned actor Bruce Willis, provided an update on her father’s health. She stated that the “Die Hard” and “Pulp Fiction” star is managing well despite his present health issues.

Actor Bruce Willis, aged 69, was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022. This condition later developed into frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a disorder known for contributing to emotional problems, atypical behaviors, and communication impairments, according to the National Institute on Aging. The initial aphasia diagnosis resulted in Willis’s retirement from acting. However, as the condition has advanced, it has prompted greater public discourse and communication from his family.

In an interview with Extra, Rumer Willis expressed her gratitude for the continued support and affection her father receives, a testament to his character. “As a family, especially my sisters and I, we’re just so grateful for the love that comes at him,” she said. She considers the public’s reaction as reflective of his persona.

Rumer, who recently posted a picture on Instagram of her father with her one-year-old daughter Louetta, emphasized the importance of sharing their family’s journey. In a conversation with Fox News Digital, she said, “What’s been so incredible is my dad is so beloved. I think if there’s any way sharing our experience brings hope — whatever comes forward as a family — that can have an effect and bring any sort of hope, comfort to someone else experiencing that, then to me, that’s … everything.”

She also revealed the values imparted to her by her parents, both of whom are notable figures in Hollywood. Rumer believes that the respect Bruce Willis and Demi Moore showed to everyone on a film set, regardless of their position, had a significant impact on her. “I feel like what I learned from them was just by watching,” she asserted. “Being on set, one of the biggest things I would say, just by proxy, you treat everyone with the same amount of respect, whether you’re in front of the camera, behind the camera, from the littlest job. Like, it doesn’t matter.”

The Willis family’s transparency about Bruce Willis’ health condition seems to be part of an effort to foster wider comprehension and conversation about frontotemporal dementia, a type of dementia that is less well-known compared to others. Through sharing their personal experiences, the Willis family aspires to provide solace and support to others in similar situations.
