A renowned British financier and husband to Lady Gabriella Windsor, Thomas Kingston, was discovered deceased on February 25, 2024, in Gloucestershire, England.
Kingston, aged 45, was a notable figure in the financial world and was also linked to the British Royal Family. He was married to Lady Gabriella, daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, who is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth. Additionally, Kingston was previously linked with Pippa Middleton, the sister of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, confirming his presence in the upper echelons of British society.
On February 25, emergency services were called to Kingston’s parents’ home shortly after 6 p.m. Kingston passed away due to a severe injury to his head, and a firearm was discovered close to his corpse in an auxiliary structure at Martin and Jill Kingston’s residence in the Cotswolds, according to preliminary findings presented at the Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court.
Senior coroner Katy Skerrett described the events that culminated in his death, stating, “Mr. Kingston had decided to pay a visit to his parent’s home located in the Cotswolds. He spent the afternoon of February 25, 2024, enjoying a meal with his parents. Following lunch, his father left the house to take the dogs for a walk. Upon his return, it was evident that Mr. Kingston was missing from the residence. After waiting for about half an hour, his mother initiated a search. His father ended up breaking into a locked building, having received no response to his calls. There, he tragically discovered his son lifeless, having suffered a devastating injury to the head.”
Buckingham Palace broke the shocking news on the evening of Tuesday, February 27, and verified that Mr. Kingston was discovered lifeless at a location in Gloucestershire on the preceding Sunday, February 25.
Kingston was respected in his field, holding the position of director at Devonport Capital, where he concentrated on providing financing for businesses in emerging markets. His prior roles at Schroders Asset Management and Voltan Capital Management in London highlight his successful career in finance. Kingston earned a bachelor’s degree in economic history from the University of Bristol and was a certified Chartered Financial Analyst.
Outside of his finance career, Kingston also worked with the Foreign Office on a conflict resolution project in Iraq in 2003. His role involved assisting in the release of hostages in Baghdad, demonstrating his commitment to international diplomacy and peacekeeping initiatives.
On May 18, 2019, Kingston’s marriage to Lady Gabriella Windsor took place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, an event attended by several members of the royal family. Kingston and Lady Gabriella’s engagement was announced in September 2018, following a romantic proposal on the island of Sark, one of the Channel Islands.
The Kingston family has been deeply affected by his death. In a statement, they described Thomas Kingston as an “exceptional man who illuminated the lives of all who knew him,” and asked for privacy during their time of mourning.
Thomas Kingston’s significant contributions to the finance industry and his work in international conflict resolution will be his enduring legacy. As the Kingston and Windsor families mourn his loss, his professional impact and the memories of his character will be remembered and treasured.
