A fatal car accident occurred involving Alex Miller, former “American Idol” Season 19 contestant, and his band, on February 13, 2024, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. The incident took place late in the evening, around 10:30 p.m.

The fatal crash included the tour bus carrying Miller’s band and another vehicle, leading to the death of the latter’s driver. Miller, who gained popularity as a country musician after his “American Idol” stint, was returning from a Florida vacation to promote his new single “Oh, Odessa,” launched on the day of the accident. The 20-year-old artist, a passenger at the time, and his bandmates were not injured.

The other vehicle involved in the accident was a Toyota RAV4, driven by James M. Mcpheron, 53, from Mount Vernon, Kentucky. Mcpheron reportedly lost control of his vehicle, causing it to collide with the tour bus. Following the accident, he was taken to Rockcastle Regional Hospital, where he was declared deceased. The Kentucky State Police are investigating the circumstances that led to Mcpheron losing control of his vehicle, with no charges filed as of now.

After the accident, Miller made a public statement on social media, expressing his sympathies to Mcpheron’s family, and confirming that everyone on board the bus was safe. However, he noted that the passengers had to exit the bus through a window due to damage to the door from the collision.

Since his appearance on “American Idol”, Miller has been a prominent figure in the country music industry, signing with the Nashville-based record label, Billy Jam Records.

Miller, originally from Kentucky, broke into the limelight in 2021 as a participant in the well-known singing competition. His rendition of Jimmy Martin’s “Freeborn Man” deeply impressed the judges—Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry. Despite making it to “Hollywood Week,” the competition’s intense stage, Miller did not make it into the Top 24. The title was eventually won by fellow country artist Chayce Beckham.

Alex’s songwriting skills stand out in his EP titled “My Daddy’s Dad,” recently released in April 2024. He had a hand in writing half of the tracks on the five-song project. Under the production of Jerry Salley for Billy Jam Records, the EP showcases a range of styles from lively to love-filled, proving that Miller is in it for the long run.
