A woman, aged 48, was discovered deceased early on Saturday morning, January 6, 2024, in the vicinity of Xfinity Live!, a prominent sports bar and entertainment venue located in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania sports complex, home to the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Police Department has reported that the woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was found hanging from an iron gate with injuries to her legs and feet.

After receiving a call about an unresponsive person, police arrived at the scene around 6:30 AM. They discovered the woman with injuries indicative of impalement on the gate. She was transported to Jefferson Methodist Hospital, where she was declared dead at approximately 8:45 AM. The investigation into the circumstances leading to her demise is ongoing.

Xfinity Live!, situated near major sports arenas such as Citizens Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field, and Wells Fargo Center, is a popular spot for sports enthusiasts in Philadelphia. The complex, offering dining and bar facilities, often serves as a meeting place for fans before and after events at these stadiums.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, there are no indications of foul play or other traumatic injuries beyond those seemingly inflicted by the gate. It is believed that the woman may have been impaled through the leg while trying to scale the fence or gate outside the bar around 2 AM, remaining there for up to five hours before discovery.

Security measures at Xfinity Live! encompass walkthrough metal detectors, visual bag inspections, and a ban on backpacks, large bags, and suitcases unless they are smaller than 12 inches by 12 inches. The venue prohibits smoking, and there are specific parking and visitor policies in place. The complex, which closes at 2 AM, is a well-known gathering place for fans of Philadelphia sports teams such as the 76ers and Flyers.

The incident has triggered questions about the safety procedures and protocols at the sports complex. While current safety policies are enforced, the specifics regarding injury incidents occurring outside the venue were not outlined in the reports.

The Philadelphia Police Department is continuing its investigation, striving to gather more details and conduct a comprehensive examination to determine the sequence of events that led to this incident.
