On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred at a McDonald’s restaurant on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard in southwest Atlanta, Georgia, claiming the life of a 30-year-old mother of four.

The Atlanta Police Department confirmed the shooting took place around 3 p.m., following a dispute between the deceased, identified as Tamanika Woods, and the 19-year-old suspect, T’Niya Evans.

According to Atlanta Police Lieutenant Germain Dearlove, the tragic incident arose from an escalating altercation between customers at the fast-food establishment.

While it is not yet clear if the confrontation and subsequent shooting occurred indoors or outdoors, eyewitnesses reported that the suspect was restrained by onlookers until the arrival of police officers.

Woods was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in a critical state, but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

Evans is now facing a series of charges, including murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and theft by receiving stolen property. The accused was denied bail at her first court appearance on Friday, December 29, and is currently held in Fulton County Jail.

A close acquaintance of Woods, who wished to remain unidentified, described her as a humble, family-oriented woman and shared the grief her death has brought to those close to her. Woods is survived by her four children, who are now being looked after by relatives.
