During the 81st Golden Globes on January 7, esteemed actress and singer Jennifer Lopez was asked a direct question about her marriage to Ben Affleck, 51. The query was seen by many as intrusive, focusing on how Lopez could be certain that her current marriage would be her final one, given her previous matrimonial history.

Lopez, aged 54, answered the question calmly and thoughtfully. She discussed the uncertainty inherent in relationships, saying, “When they say you know, you know. And other times, when you didn’t know, you also didn’t know.” She further explained her approach to both her personal life and career, stressing that she always has the best intentions.

The interviewer, Variety reporter Marc Malkin, persisted in his questioning, shifting the topic to Affleck’s opinions on Lopez’s representation of their marriage in her work. Lopez defended their relationship, emphasizing Affleck’s supportive role as her “biggest fan and biggest supporter.”

However, the interview provoked a wave of criticism from viewers and fans, many of whom voiced their discomfort with the direction the interview took. Responses to the interview, as seen in comments below the shared video and on various social media platforms, labeled the conversation as “embarrassing,” “awkward,” and “inappropriately rude.” Many suggested a focus on Lopez’s professional achievements, like her films or upcoming music, would have been more appropriate.

Despite the awkwardness of the interview, Lopez remained composed and dignified. She attended the event in a standout bubblegum pink fitted dress with large rosette sleeves, her hair styled in a way that recalled the glamour of Old Hollywood.

Jennifer Lopez has been married four times. Her first marriage was to Ojani Noa, a waiter from Miami, Florida, in February 1997, which lasted 11 months. Her second marriage was to backup dancer Cris Judd in September 2001, ending in divorce in January 2003. In June 2004, she married singer Marc Anthony and had twin children in 2008. They divorced in 2014.

Lopez and Affleck, together also known as “Bennifer,” first attracted media attention in the early 2000s. Their planned wedding in September 2003 was postponed and they separated in January 2004. They restarted their relationship after Lopez’s split with Alex Rodriguez in April 2021. The couple got engaged in April 2022 and had a small wedding ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada, in July, followed by a formal wedding in August at Affleck’s estate in Georgia.

Lopez’s handling of the personal question at the Golden Globes has been praised by fans and observers. Her composure in responding to such a direct question demonstrates her professionalism and ability to handle pressure.
