A fatal shooting took place at an Aldi supermarket in Mörfelden-Walldorf, located south of Frankfurt, Germany, on Monday, January 15, 2024. A 38-year-old worker named Aysel I. was killed by her former boyfriend, identified as 48-year-old Plamen P.

Aysel, a Turkish-Bulgarian woman, had been residing in Germany for 13 years. She had been involved with Plamen for a brief five-month period, ending their relationship six months prior during a trip to their native Bulgaria.

Post-breakup, Aysel found herself in a horrifying predicament as Plamen began stalking her persistently.

In response to this, Aysel reported him to the police several times, hired legal representation, and secured a restraining order against him.

The severity of the situation was evident when Aysel reportedly expressed concern about her safety, saying to a friend, “One day, I’ll go to work and won’t come home. He will come and kill me.”

On the evening of January 15th, around 7:15, Plamen strolled into the Aldi supermarket where Aysel was working.

Following an altercation, Plamen produced a semi-automatic weapon and fired several rounds, hitting Aysel in the head. He subsequently turned the weapon on himself, ending his own life.

This horrific event unfolded in the presence of numerous shocked shoppers and employees.

At the time of her death, Aysel had been employed at Aldi for one year.

Plamen had been scheduled to appear in court on February 15th on charges of allegedly assaulting Aysel.

The investigation into this fatal shooting is ongoing, with authorities striving to determine the events leading up to it and how Plamen obtained the firearm used for the attack.
