On Saturday, November 25, 2023, 17-year-old Hannah Layton was fatally shot in the head at a home in Richmond, Texas. Richmond Police discovered Layton deceased inside a residence on Crestwood Drive.
A 16-year-old male suspect, a resident of the same neighborhood, is facing murder charges. A gunshot was recorded by nearby surveillance equipment at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Patricia Layton, Hannah’s mother, confirmed her daughter was shot in the back of the head and succumbed instantly. She expressed her anguish and her discomfort with her daughter’s social circle. The accused is currently in custody at the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigations indicate that only Hannah and the accused were present during the incident. The young suspect, who did not flee, told police they were friends.
Amidst her loss, Layton is actively seeking community support and justice for her daughter. She has initiated a GoFundMe for funeral costs and is gathering information from high school students to assist in the case.
