In Dallas, Texas, a 45-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Terry Ivory, who met his death at the intersection of I-30 and Cockrell Hill Road on the evening of December 16, 2023. The incident led to the apprehension of 31-year-old Nestor Joel Lujan Flores of Arlington, who now faces charges of collision involving death. Flores was booked into the Dallas County Jail on December 19.

Police reports detail that after the collision, Flores, unaware of the true nature of his impact, drove approximately 40 miles to White Settlement, with parts of Ivory’s body in his vehicle’s passenger seat, initially mistaking the victim for a deer. The discovery of Ivory’s body was made in a Jack-In-The-Box parking lot in White Settlement, where police found Flores’ car displaying significant front-end damage and a shattered windshield. Officers reported a strong odor of alcohol at the scene, following a tip from a bystander who noticed Flores slumped over his steering wheel.

Authorities suggest that upon impact, Ivory was hurled through Flores’ windshield, landing in the passenger seat.

Previous records reveal Flores’ history of alcohol-related incidents, including a DWI conviction in 2020. At that time, following a speeding violation on the Dallas North Tollway, he confessed to consuming four glasses of wine.

Ivory’s siblings, Nikitria Beasley, Tesha Shannon, and Aikda Ivory, shared their deep sorrow and disbelief regarding the circumstances of their brother’s demise. Despite enduring hardships, including homelessness and living under a bridge on I-30, they recalled Ivory as an individual who consistently strived to embrace each day positively.
