A 16-year-old passenger died after falling from a balcony on the Allure of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.
The accident occurred during the ship’s journey from Florida to the Bahamas in the early hours of Saturday, November 25, 2023.
The ship was en route from Port Canaveral, Florida, at the time.
Following the fall to a lower deck, the teen received immediate medical attention but later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The exact circumstances and cause of the fall are still being investigated.
Royal Caribbean International responded to the incident with condolences, stating their sadness and extending sympathies to the family of the deceased.
The Allure of the Seas, renowned for its size and capacity, was on a three-night Bahamas cruise, including stops at Nassau and Royal Caribbean’s private island, Coco Cay.
The tragic event is among several other incidents on cruise ships in 2023. In April 2023, a passenger identified as Warwick Tollemache fell overboard from the Quantum of the Seas cruise ship near Hawaii.
In June of 2023, a woman fell overboard from the Mariner of the Seas near the Dominican Republic and was rescued.
