In a tragic event on the Benue River in the Ardo-Kola district of Taraba state, Nigeria, over 70 individuals are missing following the capsizing of a boat on Saturday night, October 28, 2023.
The incident has plunged the nation into mourning and highlights the persistent issue of boat tragedies within the country.
The vessel was carrying more than 100 traders who were returning from a local fish market when the accident occurred. In the wake of the catastrophe, rescuers have been able to save 14 people, and 17 others have been confirmed dead.
