A family of four in Lorain, Ohio, tragically lost their lives in what authorities suspect to be a murder-suicide.
The deceased include Tyler Young, 29; Skylar Young, 24; their infant son Bandin Young; and Skylar’s daughter, nine-year-old Angel Isaac. Their bodies were discovered in their East 9th Street apartment following a response by police to a report of dogs running loose in the neighborhood around 10 a.m. on November 19, 2023.
Tyler Young was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, and a 9mm pistol nearby, indicating possible self-infliction.
Lieutenant Jacob Morris of the Lorain Police Department said they are treating the case as a triple murder-suicide, based on evidence at the scene.
In May, Skylar Young had reported physical abuse by Tyler while she was pregnant, leading to his arrest. However, she later retracted her statement, resulting in no indictment.
Tyler Young had a known history of paranoid schizophrenia, diagnosed about ten years prior, and had resisted medication despite his family’s efforts, as shared by his aunt Lisa Costello. In addition to the pistol used in the incident, authorities found two other firearms in the home.
