A 32-year-old mother of two, Jonnie Angel Klein, was fatally shot while using an ATM outside a Chase bank in Worth, Illinois. The tragic incident occurred on November 5, 2023, and has since led to first-degree murder charges against two individuals from Harvey, Illinois.

Tamara Jailynn Johnson, aged 22, and Jason Jerry Joseph Johnson, 23, were identified as the suspects and charged in connection with Klein’s shooting. The two have been linked to a series of armed robberies in the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana. Police connected them to these crimes through evidence, including firearms, one of which was used in Klein’s fatal shooting.

Klein, who was engaged in a routine financial transaction at the ATM drive-thru, was described by her family as a devoted mother and caretaker. She was reportedly withdrawing money to pay her bills when the attempted armed robbery occurred. The suspects pulled up alongside her car and tried to rob her; during a struggle, Klein was shot in the chest. She managed to drive several blocks but was found dead in her car.

Further investigation into the suspects revealed their involvement in several similar incidents, indicating a pattern of criminal behavior.

Klein’s death has deeply impacted the community. Known for her hard work and dedication to her family, including a 10-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son, she also cared for her mother battling cancer. Klein managed these responsibilities while working multiple jobs.

Local police are enhancing surveillance and security around ATM locations and urging the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities.
