Actor Peter Spellos Passes Away at 69

Peter Spellos, a versatile actor known for his roles in the TV series “American Dreams” and the animated series “Transformers: Robots in Disguise,” passed away at the age of 69.

Spellos’ life came to an end after battling pancreatic cancer, as confirmed by his brother James Spellos. He died on November 19, 2023, at the Franciscan Hospice House, in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

A native of Queens, New York, Spellos’ prolific career boasted over 150 acting roles, including Gus in NBC’s “American Dreams” and the voice of Sky-Byte in “Transformers: Robots in Disguise.” Additionally, his voice acting was featured in “Eagle Riders.”

Spellos’ talents were also evident in his roles in “ER,” “NYPD Blue,” “Yes Man,” and “Men in Black II.” Beyond the screen, he was a passionate theater personality and educator, founding the New Mercury Theatre Company and teaching at The Artists Gym. His final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, as recounted by Jennifer Smith, a student and legal representative.

His friend and colleague, Fred Olen Ray, commemorated Spellos on social media, remembering his compassionate nature and collaborative spirit. 

In accordance with his wishes, Spellos will be cremated without a religious service, and an online memorial is being organized to honor his life and achievements. His brother shared a lighthearted note about Peter’s unique wish for a Viking ship burial.
