In downtown Los Angeles, California, on September 10, 2023, a tragic discovery was made. Nichole Coats, a 32-year-old model, was found dead in her apartment.

After examination, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner declared that her death was caused by an overdose of cocaine and ethanol. This death has been categorized as accidental, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The sad revelation was made by Coats’ father and aunt, who became anxious after not hearing from her for multiple days. The circumstances in which she was found have raised doubts. Her aunt vividly described the scene: Coats’ body had one leg raised as if in mid-kick, and there were bloodstains on her bed. These findings have made the family suspicious of foul play.

Further deepening the mystery, just two days following the discovery of Coats, another model, 31-year-old Maleesa Mooney, was also found dead in her downtown Los Angeles residence. Mooney’s death is under investigation as a homicide due to evident signs of violence.

This subsequent death has led to public speculation about a possible connection between the deaths of the two models. Yet, the Los Angeles Police Department has clarified that, based on their investigations, there’s no evidence to tie the two deaths together. Their statement aligns with the conclusion of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, who reiterated that Coats died from an accidental overdose of cocaine and ethanol.

It’s a known fact that the combination of cocaine and alcohol can be lethal. The mixture can cause harmful effects on the heart, heightening the risk of a fatal overdose. The American Addiction Centers have stressed the dangers of such a combination.

Despite official explanations, Coats’ family remains in anguish and disbelief. The unsettling manner in which her body was found has only fueled their suspicions. They believe there’s a possibility of something more sinister at play.

In Mooney’s case, while her death is being treated as a homicide, there have been no arrests. The circumstances surrounding her death continue to be a mystery.
