Sardinia Supercar Crash Claims Two Lives

On Monday, October 2, 2023, State Road 195 in South Sardinia, Italy became the site of a tragic incident involving two supercars and a camper van, resulting in two fatalities.

A road user captured the moments leading up to the crash. His footage showed both a Lamborghini and a Ferrari, overtaking his vehicle. Subsequently, the video displayed a white camper van getting overtaken. As the scene unfolded, the red Ferrari accelerated, nearing the blue Lamborghini just as both attempted to pass the camper.

The eventual collision between the two luxury vehicles forced the Lamborghini into the camper’s rear. This force elevated the camper’s back end, causing it to tilt on its front tire, eventually landing on its side.

In the aftermath, the Ferrari also turned over and became engulfed in flames.

The Ferrari had two passengers: Swiss nationals, Melissa, 63, and Markus Krautli, 67. The accident claimed their lives.

Lorenzo Mascarin, 62, and his wife, who were in the camper, sustained minor injuries. Lorenzo recalled the event’s sudden nature, noting the unexpectedness of finding themselves in an overturned vehicle and the sight of the burning Ferrari.

Miraculously, the Lamborghini’s passengers, Bollywood actress Gayatri Joshi and billionaire Vikas Oberoi, remained uninjured. Following the incident, a ‘double road homicide’ investigation began in Italy. Oberoi, if charged and convicted, could face a seven-year sentence.

The vehicles were associated with the Sardinia Supercar Tour, an island exploration event with luxury vehicles. Authorities continue their efforts to determine the crash’s cause.
